"The Wire" Actor/Comedian Melvin Jackson Jr. Set to Play in Celebrity Basketball Game

Best known for his roles on the HBO hit series "The Wire" as Bernard and television shows such as "Everybody Hates Chris," Melvin Jackson Jr. is one of the nicest and coolest guys in Hollywood!


Originally from Washington, D.C., he has also lived in Islamabad, Pakistan for nearly 5 years and Ankara, Turkey for 4 years, where he won two gold medals in track and field long distance running and bronze medal in wrestling. Residing in Los Angeles, he has taken the industry by storm.


His break into the entertainment industry came at the age of 18. Not only has he made a name for himself in film and television, he is also building his reputation as a comedian across many comedy stages as well. He is also an accredited writer, producer, director and CEO of Urban Vision Entertainment.


Melvin has starred in films such as Five K One alongside Clifton Powell and Step Up with Channing Tatum. Recently, he played Kurtis Blow in the "New Edition Story" miniseries on BET. He is currently working on directing his first feature film and a cop drama television series alongside playing in a charity celebrity basketball game - hosted by Rick Ross and Blac Elvis - to raise awareness for sickle cell disease. He spends his quality time between writing and producing film and television projects and participating in charitable events.
